Metro Lutheran saluted Dr. Alvin Rueter for his radio ministry at its annual dinner in October.

The Rev. Alvin C. Rueter received the Metro Lutheran Gold Pen Award at the paper’s Annual Dinner on October 13. Presenting the citation was Paul Peterson, former station manager for WCAL-FM, the St. Olaf College radio station where Rueter’s long-running radio program, “Sing for Joy!”, is produced.

Around 200 supporters of Metro Lutheran showed up for the evening’s festivities, which included a keynote presentation by Steve Scott, religion editor for the St. Paul Pioneer Press. After 40 years as the program’s founder, producer, and radio voice, Rueter is relinquishing responsibility for “Sing for Joy!” WCAL, will continue to produce, and will provide voices for, the programs in the future.
