What else could I do? …

Why I Support Metro Lutheran with Time and Money

Michael Dorner

Before writing this article, I looked at the variety of charities I support. Generally they fall into four categories — my congregation, educational institutions, social service agencies, and cultural institutions.

Like many people, I support organizations that I believe make a difference in peoples’ lives by sharing the gospel, educating students, helping people in need, and promoting cultural awareness. Where does Metro Lutheran fit in this consideration?

Metro Lutheran brings me the news about Lutherans that I would otherwise not hear.

Metro Lutheran brings me the news about Lutherans that I would otherwise not hear. Lutherans are still sharing the gospel, now among a very diverse population. The Lutheran education scene in our region is so vibrant, we should desire to hear as much about it as we can. Whether through large agencies or individual congregations, Lutherans are engaged in reaching out to those in need. And, where else but here could there be a National Lutheran Choir and other venues where we engage in cultural pursuits?

Supporting Metro Lutheran allows me to learn about people, events, and ideas that are important to you and me. Without Metro Lutheran, my knowledge of fellow Lutherans and the church, the body of Christ, would be much less.

Why would I support that?
