HALVERSON HEADS AUGUSTANA SF
Augustana College, an ELCA school in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, inaugurated Dr. Bruce Halverson as president October 6. The ceremony was part of the school’s Viking Days homecoming celebration.
Halverson is a native of Sioux Falls and the first Augustana graduate to serve as the college’s president.
Three former Augustana presidents participated in the festivities — Dr. Charles Balcaer, Dr. Lloyd Svendsbye, and Dr. Ralph Wagoner.
Halverson, a 1966 cum laude graduate of Augustana, earned a Ph.D. in theatre history from the University of Washington, then taught or served in administration at five institutions of higher learning. Most recently he was Dean of the School of Theatre at Florida State University.
