Baseball Whiz Kid helps teach college course
Madeline Barnicle wowed the prof with her knowledge.
St. Olaf College English Professor David Wee offers a yearly one-day class on “Base-ball and American Values.” Last year a nine-year-old kid from Eagan, Minnesota, participated. She stumped the professor, correctly answering every baseball trivia question he pitched at her. So, Wee is having (now-10-year-old) Madeline Barnicle (pictured) help him teach this year’s class on May 25.
Madeline’s mother, Lois Pallmeyer, is a pastor at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, St. Paul, Minnesota. Of her daughter, she says, “[Baseball] has been a great way for her to connect with other people, from children her own age to college professors.”
