Quartet have served up meals for missionaries for years.

For at least 80 years, members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 41st & Lyndale, south Minneapolis, have hosted a free lunch for retired missionaries and others who have served on overseas Lutheran mission fields.
This year’s meal was served at Bethlehem on June 2. Nobody who knew the score was foolish enough to stick his or her head through the kitchen door and call for Lois, however. All four cooks would have answered. Lois Helgeson, Lois Dokken, Lois Bernhardson and Lois Nelson love preparing this annual meal.
According to Gordon Olson, director of Lutheran Partners in Global Mission, Bethlehem Church may be the only congregation anywhere to recognize (and feed) retired global missionaries in this way. Around 85 guests showed up for this year’s meal.
