Living as witnesses
The St. Paul Area Synod, ELCA, met in assembly at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Burnsville, Minnesota, late in May under the theme “You Will Be My Witnesses.” The opening worship (left) stressed both foreign and domestic mission.
Keynote speaker Diane Butler Bass said, “My pessimistic sociologist friends now say we have had 30 years of erosion of Christian beliefs, passion and involvement.” She continued, “I am less worried about creeping secularism than I am about empty symbolism.”
