LVC national orientation to be in Twin Cities

Lutheran Volunteer Corps’ national volunteer orientation will be held at Luther Seminary in St. Paul August 15-20. It is expected approximately 150 full-time volunteers placed in 16 different cities across the country will be coming together to participate in training and begin their year of working for social justice through LVC.

It costs LVC $400 per volunteer to host the orientation, according to Susanne Waldorf who works with Twin Cities volunteers. She said, “If you would like to donate to help offset these costs, please send a check to Lutheran Volunteer Corps, 1226 Vermont Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20005.”
Sunday evening, August 15, there will be a worship service and reception hosted by Luther Seminary. For details, visit the LVC Web site: www.lutheranvolunteercorps.org. Anyone interested may attend.
Waldorf said, “We are looking for host individuals, families, or units of any configuration for each LVC house in the Twin Cities next year. If you would like to learn more about what it means to be a ‘host’ to an LVC house, or would like to learn of other ways to support the national orientation or Twin Cities volunteers, contact me, Susanne Waldorf, Twin Cities coordinator, at swaldorf@lutheran volunteercorps.org or 612/529-2945.”
Orientations are normally held at LVC’s national office in Washington, D.C. The Twin Cities will host the training this year for just the second time in LVC’s 30 year history.
