Green Lake Lutheran Ministries (GLLM), Spicer, Minnesota, recently received a $75,000 grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation. The grant will allow GLLM to explore and implement youth and adult leadership development training in addition to funding the institute’s programming. The grant comes in the form of $50,000 start-up funding with an 8:1 challenge grant for $25,000.
“Camps have always been leadership incubators for our communities and churches and we are very excited that this Thrivent grant has afforded us this wonderful opportunity to explore leadership development for youth and adults in our churches and communities in an even more intentional way,” said Dave Eliason, executive director of GLLM.
“We are delighted to assist Green Lake Lutheran Ministries through this grant,” said Tim Schwan, vice president of the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation.
The grant is part of the foundation’s Lutheran Grant Program. This program is designed to assist Lutheran organizations and those they serve in achieving economic security and sustainability. In 2010, the program distributed more than $1.6 million through 42 separate grants.
