LCMS highlights program to encourage acts of service by youth

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) recently highlighted a program for young people looking for an opporunity to serve a neighbor in need.
Organized under the theme, “We are His Hands,” based on Ephesians 2:10, more than 100 LCMS youth volunteer opportunities, known as “Servant Events,” are planned for various domestic and international locations through the summer of 2012.
“LCMS Servant Events give young people the experience of learning that serving others can make a difference because of Jesus Christ,” said Jim Lohman, associate director of Youth Ministry—Servant Events.
Teenagers and their adult leaders may choose to participate in a wide variety of service projects ranging from construction, human care, and outreach events to crisis, multicultural, and environmental events. There also are projects specially suited for families, junior high youth, and young children.
