Northwestern Minnesota Synod treasurer faces charges
Robert Larson, synod bookkeeper for the Northwestern Minnesota Synod of the ELCA since 2004, is facing charges for embezzlement of funds, according to a source in the synod. Larson was relieved of duties last week after confessing to the financial misconduct.
Representatives of the synod office contacted the Moorhead Police Department informing them of the impropriety. As Metro Lutheran went to press, court officials were preparing charges.
The synod’s executive committee hired Eide Bailly to provide an audit of the synod’s financial records for the last seven years.
The Rev. Larry Wohlrabe, synod bishop, discovered the financial irregularities over the Christmas holiday.
