The Board of Directors of Metro Lutheran announced its selection of noted author, theologian, and historian Dr. Martin Marty as the recipient of the Gold Pen Award. The award recognizes “distinguished service to Christ and the church through significant contribution in public communication” and a commitment to “inter-Lutheran cooperation,” according to the Rev. Michael Edwins, chair of the group’s annual dinner committee.
“Martin Marty had already agreed to be the keynote speaker for the annual dinner,” said Edwins. “The board realized that there are few people who have made a more significant contribution to religion communication than Marty.”
The Metro Lutheran Annual Dinner will be held October 14 at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, Minneapolis.
