Why I support Metro Lutheran with time and money
It's the community ...
Building community has always been important to me, whether within families, between ethnic groups — or among Lutherans. As a sociologist, my interest in community is natural, but as Christians we also have a natural interest in community. Jesus prayed, “Father … that they may be one just as we are.”
Metro Lutheran provides a unique medium to promote a sense of community among Lutherans, a one-of-a-kind opportunity to engage in respectful conversation when we agree and when we don’t. It allows us to communicate and celebrate one another’s joys and successes as we share our mutual goal of living out the gospel. My former pastor, Norman Kretzmann, had a vision for community among local Lutherans that led him to plant the first seeds for this wonderful publication. I am honored to be part of it today.
