Potential buyer emerges for WELS headquarters
About a year ago, the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod was stuck with two buildings for its national headquarters when the purchase agreement for the previous headquarters (“Mayfair Road”) fell through after a new building had been purchased.
The Synodical Council decided to put both office buildings owned by the synod up for sale. Recently, the synod has received offers on both buildings. The Synodical Council has authorized contract negotiations for the sale of the Mayfair Road property. Before any sale of the Mayfair Road property is finalized by the Synodical Council, there will be a period of due diligence in which the purchaser can walk away from the transaction.
In addition, the synod received a letter of intent for the purchase of the Waukesha property. Negotiations with the potential purchaser are ongoing.
