Shepherd of the Valley looks at parables
Noted scholar, theologian, and teacher Dr. Kenneth Bailey will lead a series of workshops at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church (SOTV) March 9-10. Having spent more than 40 years living, studying, and teaching at seminaries and universities in Egypt, Lebanon, Jerusalem, and Cyprus, he is considered an authority on Middle Eastern culture.
Bailey will offer three different hour-long lectures on the theme of “How the Parables Proclaim the Gospel (Jesus Interprets His Own Cross).” Lectures are “The Good Shepherd: Jesus Retells the 23rd Psalm,” “The Good Shepherd: The Passion and the Glory of John 10,” and “The Compassionate Father: Rescuing Truth from Familiarity.”
