Mount Olive to host Bach Day
Mount Olive Music and Fine Arts presents two public events in association with its Seventh Annual “Bach Tage,” or “Bach day.” Every year during a two-day convocation, singers (and listeners) gather to explore, rehearse, hear, and learn about the music of Lutheran composer Johann Sebastian Bach. This year, participants will prepare “Cantata 36, Schwingt freudig euch Empor,” which will be performed in the context of a service of Evening Prayer on Sunday evening, June 9, at 4:00 p.m.
And on the prior Saturday evening, June 8, at 4:00 p.m., Mount Olive offers a concert of Bach masterworks for violin and harpsichord by Baroque violinist Marc Levine and harpsichordist Tami Morse, the founders of Flying Forms.
Both events take place at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 3045 Chicago Avenue South, Minneapolis. A reception in the Chapel Lounge follows Evening Prayer. Both events are free and open to the public.
