Faith leaders sit vigil at Detention Center

For the 48th consecutive month, the Interfaith Coalition on Immigration held a vigil for immigration reform at the Ramsey County Detention Center in St. Paul on September 1, 2013. Leaders in the faith community used this opportunity to hear stories from family members of detained immigrants and to contact elected officials in support of immigration reform.
Participants were heartened by passage of an immigration reform bill by the Senate before the August recess, though the House of Representatives failed to act. There are approximately 300 immigrants detained in Minnesota jails on any given night.
The monthly vigil is on the first Sunday of the month at 2:30 p.m.
