Holy Nativity to host "Codex" art exhibit
As part of its Arts Series, Holy Nativity Lutheran Church (ELCA) in New Hope, Minnesota, is presenting Codex, an award-winning film and art exhibit put together by Micah Bloom, on the weekend of January 10-12, 2014. The art presentation will be held at Holy Nativity, 3900 Winnetka Avenue in New Hope.
Bloom’s Codex is set in Minot, North Dakota, after the 2011 Souris River flood. The receding flood waters left behind a startling assortment of debris — books that had been strewn through the landscape, hanging from trees, embedded in the mud. Codex is a visual meditation of the books and on the process of rescuing them and honoring what they represent.
Micah Bloom earned an MFA from the University of Iowa in 2010. He currently lives in North Dakota and teaches at Minot State University. He has been selected for numerous artist-in-residence fellowships and has published work in several literary and art journals.
