Concordia St Paul volleyball team goes for #7Heaven
The Concordia University, St. Paul, women’s volleyball team has gone where no volleyball team, at any level, has ever gone before. Stretching its NCAA Division II winning streak to 42 games, the Golden Bears won their seventh consecutive national collegiate championship, breaking a record it had shared with the Division III women’s volleyball team from Washington University in St. Louis that won six titles 1991-96.
The Concordia team (35-3) hasn’t lost a game in the national tournament since 2006. This year the team beat Brigham Young—Hawaii in straight sets (25-15, 25-14, 25-20) to win the championship. Coach Brady Starkey, in the understatement of the year, said, “We have a lot of kids that can terminate the ball.”
